Grade 9 / Topic: Environmental Chemistry

While watching the “DYNAMIC EARTH” movie, students will integrate the physical and biological sciences by exploring the impact of solar and terrestrial energy sources on the climate. In addition, students will learn about the carbon cycle as well as, the intricate connection between Earth’s energy and the environmental systems that shape its climate. More points will be discussed by our educator in addition to question/ answer period.

DYNAMIC EARTH:

Dynamic Earth, explores the inner workings of Earth’s climate system. With visualizations based on satellite monitoring data and advanced supercomputer simulations, this cutting-edge production follows a trail of energy that flows from the Sun into the interlocking systems that shape our climate: the atmosphere, oceans, and biosphere.  Audiences will ride along on swirling ocean and wind currents, dive into the heart of a monster hurricane, come face-to-face with sharks and gigantic whales, and fly into roiling volcanoes.

RUNNING TIME: 24:00 minutes
SUBJECTS COVERED: Impact of Solar and Terrestrial Energy Sources on the Climate, Earth-Sun System, Plate Tectonics, Carbon Cycle.
