Junior High
Our Sky Dome will bring enthusiasm for science and learning for our middle school students. Following is a list of the movies we currently offer along with the topics that are aligned with Alberta curriculum. In general, our programs include, but not limited to, a movie of your choice, science demo by our expert educator followed by a period of questions and answers.

GRADE 7
TOPIC: Interactions and Ecosystems
Join us today for a unique program about our earth ECOSYSTEMS, Human impacts, decision making and action to safe our ECOSYSTEM. You have the choice between one of the following movies “HABITAT EARTH” or “THE EARTH AND ME” or “BELLA GAIA – Beautiful Earth” and they will join our educator in a nice science talk and question/answer period.

GRADE 8
TOPIC: Cells and Systems
Today we will learn and discover many mysterious things about living organisms such as their systems, cells, structures and functions and how they can work together. To achieve this goal, you can select one of the following movies “CELL! CELL! CELL!” or “THE BODY CODE” and enjoy the science talks and question/answer period. Join us now.
TOPIC: Light and Optical Systems
Today our student will enjoy watching and learning about light and optics. They will discover that our eye can see different colors because a part of your eye called the retina is sensitive to different wavelengths of light and they learn about trichromats, eye three cones colors. This program consists of one short movie “LIGHT” and your choice of one fulldome movie “COSMIC ORIGINS SPECTROGRAPH” or “TWO SMALL PIECES OF GLASS” or “SEEING!” after or in between the movies there will be a science talk and and question/answer period.
GRADE 9
TOPIC: Biological Diversity
Today your students will learn about BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY that may be influenced by ECOLOGICAL and HUMAN-CAUSED factors. Your will have a choice between two movies “EXPEDITION REEF” or “LIFE: A Cosmic Story”. The movie will be followed by science talk and question/answer period.
TOPIC: Matter and Chemical Change
Today students are introduced to the periodic table and will learn about the cosmic recipes that created everything in our world – even us! While watching “COSMIC RECIPE-Setting the Periodic Table” movie students will become familier with the origin of elements and our educator will explore the periodic table in detail—from its basic structure and properties to the behavior of some elements in addition to question/ answer period.
TOPIC: Environmental Chemistry
While watching the “DYNAMIC EARTH” movie, students will integrate the physical and biological sciences by exploring the impact of solar and terrestrial energy sources on the climate. In addition, students will learn about the carbon cycle as well as, the intricate connection between Earth’s energy and the environmental systems that shape its climate. More points will be discussed by our educator in addition to question/ answer period. –>
