Public Shows Important Guidelines!

Our Sky Dome is opened to public at different locations throughout the City of Calgary and surrounding areas. Please see our schedule below for more information. In case we did not have the minimum booking requirements, the show might be canceled and the sold tickets either will be fully refunded or can be moved to another location.

  • Each show is sold separately, you may purchase tickets for one or more movie.
  • The show begins promptly at the scheduled start time, so ticket holders must arrive 10 minutes prior to showtime.
  • No entry after doors close – late arrivals may attend the next presentation if there is a space
  • Absolutely no food or drink allowed inside the Dome.
  • Please be aligned outside the dome door 5 minutes prior to the show time.
  • Due to the darkened environment and safety concerns, children under the age of 5 years old should be accompanied with an adult (ticket required) or will not be allowed in the SKY DOME.
  • Once a show has started, if you must leave, re-admittance will not be allowed.
  • Be sure all electronic devices including Cell phones should be off during a show and not used in any way.
  • All SKY DOME movies are indoors, and we ask attendees not to run or make a noise outside the DOME.
  • We are renting the place and we should leave the place clean and tight. So, help us to keep the place in good condition.
  • All ticket sales are final. No refunds are given for late arrivals or no-shows.
Our Planetarium Shows

Our shows are typically 55 minutes in length that consist of the main movie and Interactive demonstrations or an After-movie Activities. We have developed some hands-on activities to go along with the shows. All materials are provided and there are no additional charges for these activities.

  • To assure your ticket, purchase your tickets in advance and on-line
  • Walk-in tickets are available on the day of the movies (this does not grantee a seat and you may have to wait for the next show)

Visit our online gift shop for all our gift items. You may order the items on line and we will deliver
it to you on the show day or send to you by Mail (Extra charges may apply for orders below
$100). Buying from our gift shop will support our programs to improve our services and to
purchase new movies.

EXPEDITION REEF

Expedition Reef, is a compelling and important story to tell where General Audiences of all ages will enjoy the splendor of the reefs.

Expedition Reef, is an oceanic safari of the world’s most vibrant yet endangered marine ecosystems. Taking full advantage of our Sky Dome to enjoy the undersea adventure, the presentation allows guests to discover how corals grow, feed, reproduce, and support over 25% of all marine life on Earth, while facing unprecedented threats from climate change, habitat destruction, and over-fishing.

We come face-to-face with slithering moray eels being groomed by dutiful cleaner shrimp and wrasses; a Trapezia crab squares off with a crown-of-thorns starfish; and other-worldly nudibranchs dine on tasty meals of sponges.

LARRY CAT IN SPACE

Larry Cat In Space is a playful, imaginative cartoon presentation about an inquisitive cat who takes a trip to the Moon. Through Larry’s eyes, we observe his human family, a group of enthusiastic sky-watchers. Larry notes how human time differs from cat time. Diana takes a job on the Moon, and sadly leaves Larry behind. Larry figures out a way to hide in her clothes trunk.
The trunk and Larry are loaded onto the Space Plane, which takes him to space station Freedom.
From there, he is transferred to the Lunar Shuttle. During weightlessness, the trunk opens. Larry floats out into the cabin, and looks out the window. When Diana discovers Larry, he leaps to greet her, but sails over her head, since he only weighs two pounds in lunar gravity.
Enjoy this 30:00 minutes fun story! and learn something about the Moon, too!

ONE WORLD, ONE SKY

One World, One Sky, movie follows Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Elmo as they explore the night sky with Hu Hu Zhu, a Muppet from Zhima Jie, the Chinese co-production of Sesame Street. Together, they take an imaginary trip from Sesame Street to the Moon, where they discover how different it is from Earth. One World, One Sky is a brilliant spectacle of light and colour as the furry friends watch the stars twinkle over Sesame Street. Children attending the show can interact as they watch, drawing constellations and counting the time it takes the sun to set.

HABITAT EARTH (LIVING IN A CONNECTED WORLD)

Living networks connect and support life forms large and small — from colonies of tiny microbes and populations of massive whales to ever-expanding human societies. In the California Academy of Sciences’ 2015 original planetarium show, Habitat Earth, discover what it means to live in today’s connected world.
Through stunning visualizations of the natural world, dive below the ocean’s surface to explore the dynamic relationships found in kelp forest ecosystems, travel beneath the forest floor to see how Earth’s tallest trees rely on tiny fungi to survive, and journey to new heights to witness the intricate intersection between human and ecological networks.
This 24:20 minutes movie details the ways humans fit into this ever-evolving story of connection.

Beginning with the condensation of the initial cloud of gas and cosmic dust, we explore the history of planetary formation and the mechanism of accretion that played an important role in shaping the worlds of the solar system.

It takes viewers to places in the solar system to study the aftermath of collisions, and describes how the process of accretion shaped planets and how continuing impacts change their surfaces.

MUSICA

MUSICA — Why is the Universe Beautiful? show begins with a young woman, mesmerized by the beauty of nature, who asks, “Why do I sense beauty?” Her question sets in motion a series of scenes that take audiences on a voyage of discovery—from the DNA in our cells, to the spiral designs hidden in a sunflower and the ominous beauty of a typhoon, to the spiral grandeur of galaxies. An elegant, artistic view of music.

MUSICA,  is an unusual educational and entertaining show that nourishes our artistic senses. At the same time, it teaches what every scientist, musician, and artist knows intuitively: how the physics of sound and color, and the physical laws of nature that contribute to music and art.

Musica, by using sound as a metaphor, gives us a new yet ancient way to look at the universe.
During the 26:00 minutes of the movie you will discover that art, science, and mathematics all combine to open our eyes to the beauty of the universe.
